Aw, man, it's too bad you've already reformatted your hard drive. You should have searched for a computer tech that could perform a file recovery on your hard drive. I even have the tools to do so but, sadly, our distances would've been in the way a little

. Although you've already written over many of your old files by now (depending on how much of your hard drive was filled before the crash), you might still want to look into trying to get someone to scan your hard drive for remaining files that merely have had their record deleted from the MFT by the reformat. Since the disc is still usable, that means it's not
physically damaged and some old files will still be on there. Windows can't find them because it, unfortunately, only searches for files using the MFT, so a special program is needed.
Also, btw, do you have any external hard drives? If so, can you use them for backing up your files? I have one that I will usually copy all of my personal files to about once every 1-2 months. I also keep a folder containing every installation file for every program I install on my computer (aside from games, since those are preserved through CDs) and whenever I install something new. I just move the install file, for the new program I just installed, to that folder instead of deleting it. This way, if my computer crashes or I have something happen like upgrading my OS or changing computers, I already have and know everything I want/need to install

.
Still, sorry to hear about that. Computer crashes can be catastrophic and, it seems, you weren't spared any of the pains
