The Core- As we know it

Postby Derfmancher » Mon Feb 11, 2008 11:03 pm

The Core is one of three races in Worlds at War. Their only goal is to destroy all life that they find. At this point, they have a limited timeline (we will release that when we have it.) Although the unit list is close to done. Their big strength is to hit hard the first time. Their bisgest downside is that they have the most limited defences of the three races, and if their tech tree is eliminated they are useless.

The Core, as many of their enemys have called them, were created by an ancient race to wage war for them. After some time, the AI of The Core found that the need for their creators was no longer existant. They could produce themselves, design new units, and wage war... all without any outside help. So they eliminated their own creators. 3000 years later, The Core is trying to find any reminence of their beginning. In that quest the decison was made to eliminate any life that was not found to be The Creators, thus making the search easier. It has taken the core this long to clear their entire homeworld. Now it has been mined of matter to the point that it can no longer support life. So The Core has been forced to find other planets in order to continue their search.

as has been metioned in other posts.. The Core have no flesh anywhere within their race..they are represted to others by the AIs holographic represtation of itself. The Cores tactics and buildings stress mass unit productin and highly specialized unit modules. Thes modules fall into two basic areas, class modifyers and expendable upgrades. The class modifyers change the unit untill the unit is destroyed, like giving it a particular role, "scout" or "heavy infantry" etc. The expendable upgrades are just that, expendable additions to the unit, such as a gauss auto cannon, or other such device. There are some Modules that might be said to fall into neither area, like cloaking, which does not "expend" but must recharge its energy.

Another point to The Core is their very large aircraft, built to destroy entire races with just a few ships and support craft. They also have several very heavy ground units.. and the most extensive mine-laying technlogy of all the races, makeing up for their fairly weak wall.

As well The Core also have several specalized aircraft.. one of which is able to re-from the landscape for a range of purposes. The other is a carrier/mothership to provide a launch platform for smaller aircraft.

actully... The Core can mass produce any of their units, but they still cost a fair sum.

as for upgradeing.. this is done with "modules" or "mods" some of them are auto-cannons, and others are more detailed, such as makeing a unit able to detect cloaked units. There will be quite a range of these modules.
