Core Unit list Volume 3.0- Final, and hopefuly last. Post ANY questions.
Alpha - Shell
The lightest of the Core Shells. Best when used in numbers, and supported by more specialized units. (Simple unit, looks like a spider with a single gauss rifle facing forward.)
-View this unit's concept art-
Omega - Shell
The heavy ground Core Shell. Used best when supporting other units, and to attack the enemies weak points. (Simple unit, looks much like a 21st century tank, only without crew compartments, and a single rail gun in place of the primary turret. Supported by two flashette cannons.
Tango - Shell
Basic flying Shell. Used best in mass numbers to overwhelm the enemy. (Simple flying unit. Two engines on a single fixed wing. Armed with a single missle tube, and a high caliber gauss cannon. One under the main body, one mounted on the front of the unit.)
Gamma - Shell
Builder/ Specialized shell unit. Used to construct the Cores buildings, and as a staging unit for other more specialized units. (First unit the Core can build. Only armed with a plasma cutter and a low caliber gauss rifle.) [Unit looks like it is on three legs, with the plasma cutter on one arm, and another arm has a grasper. Standard sensors make up the top of the unit.]
Alpha - General Combat
First offensive unit developed by The Core. Since the core has no record of its origins, they have no way to trace why the unit was ever designed. However it is so effective, it remains in service even now. Brought into most conflicts at the very beginning because of its simple yet deadly design. (The heavy gauss rifle that is its primary armament is at the center if its creation, positioned on a rotating tower. Its laser sights and heat sensors make it highly accurate.) [Think of a spider with a gauss cannon instead of a face. With the sensors mounted above the cannon.]
Alpha - Close Combat
Designed when The Core fought an insect race that preferred to rush its enemy with many close combat-armed units. This unit was built to combat this new threat. Heavy armor combined with large cutters makes it appear bulky and over sized. Not to mention the overbearing look of the blades on the front of the unit. Close combat unit, used to get in close to the enemy and cut them apart. (Armed with two circular saws, each with an extremely sharp blade. No ranged weapon. The saws are mounted on individual arms at the front of the unit. Many legged body.) [Just looking at the unit you know it is ready to slice and dice. Placement of the saws is reminiscent of a scorpion or crab, arms swing inward to attack, converging on the target]
Alpha - Ranged
The Core began to innovate and improve its ability to kill. From that effort came this long ranged light unit. Tasked with taking out threats before they get into range of the main force, it dedicates much of its size to sensors and its main weapon. Very sleek and able to move at a decent speed, everything that is not intended to find or kill the enemy is put toward making the unit faster. Fire support unit, used for cover fire of other, stronger units. (Armed with a high caliber magnetically driven cannon, mounted on a many leged body, with a small swiveling center dome. Extensive protruding sensors from the unit.) [Like a tank only with legs, and less armor. Looks like the gun was designed and then the unit was built around it.]
-View this unit's concept art-
Alpha - Heavy Armor
A better armored version of the earliest of the Cores units. Even bulkier, and slower than its predecessor, but it packs two gauss rifles rather than one. (A Spider with twin gauss rifles mounted above the main unit on a rotating center. Armor is the name of this units game.) [Like a lobster with guns. No claws though. Armor is built much like medieval knights, interlocking plates designed to cut down on weak points.]
Alpha - Counter Armor
The primary directive of this unit is to get behind the heavyset units in the enemies force, and fire a plasma round right up their tailpipe. Defiantly one of the most specialized units of the Alpha rating, and one of the most deadly to heavier foes. (A spider with less armor, and the entire unit put towards supporting a plasma cannon that takes up virtually all of the units space not required to move or target the enemy. The plasma cannon is its only armament.) [A black widow of sorts. Very heavy looking, but only because of the plasma cannon. Without it, the unit would look naked and bare.]
-View this unit's concept art-
Alpha - Scout
The lightest of the Alpha units. Designed to get to where the enemy is, establish his numbers, and return to base. Although it is one of the few units in the Cores numbers that can detect stealth units. (Light scout unit. Used for probing the enemies position for weak points. Very fast, but very frigile. Armed with one low caliber light gauss rifle.) [A few less legs than the rest of the Alpha units, with everything slimmed down for speed and maneuverability. The single gauss rifle is placed under the main core of the unit. More focus is place on how the unit moves.]
-View this unit's concept art-
Alpha - Anti Air
Just as the Designer thought there was time to rest; The Core encountered a race of entirely airborne units. The technology had not been thought of to make such a feat possible for The Core. So a solely anti air unit was developed. (Light support unit. Used to provide air cover for ground units. Armed with two rocket launchers mounted on a spider like center. Extensive sensor array/ many sensors all over the unit.) [Very obvious what the purpose of the unit is. Missiles are aimed at the sky by default, and the center of the mount rotates until the units radar picks up a target. The units appearance is dominated by the two missiles, followed by the legs, everything else looks like overkill.]
-View this unit's concept art-
Alpha - Shock Troop
First built when The Core encountered a heavily defended race who apparently knew The Core was coming. (Mid sized “ball” unit. Rolls until it is through defenses, and then deploys its legs which unfold out of its ball. A small sensor then deploys out of the top, along with its gauss cannon.) [ Intended to be the first unit through the enemy lines. Fast moving, fast deployment. Fairly simple, to ease mass production. Stereotypical “invading ball-droid look to it.]
Omega - General Combat
The Core had designed a wide range of defenses by this time. This unit was designed and produced when a small outpost of The Cores own units programming broke down. To break into their own line, this extremely heavy and powerful unit trampled through The Cores minefields. (Heavy Attack unit, standard. Used to break through enemy masses of units, or defenses. Twin high caliber chain guns, supported with lower level plasma cannon, along with anti infantry flashette cannon.) [Entire unit is on two massive legs. With the high caliber guns on either side of the main structure, the plasma cannon in the center of the main structure, and the flashette cannon underneath the main structure. Main structure is a large rectangle, on is side. (The main structure is square-shaped in front and back; and rectangular-shaped on the sides.)]
-View this unit's concept art-
Omega - Close Combat
This close combat unit is intended to get up close and personal with the enemy light units and rip them apart. Heavy armor combined with large cutters makes it appear bulky and ridiculously over sized. Not to mention the overbearing look of the blades on the front of the unit. (Armed with four circular saws, each with an extremely sharp blade, and one plasma flamer. The saws are mounted on individual arms at the front of the unit.) [Entire unit on two large trends. A decent sized unit, with arms going in four different directions, each with a very deadly saw on the end. Saw arms are opposable, so they can move both inward, and outward, much like an octopus.]
-View this unit's concept art-
Omega - Ranged
The heavy fire support of the Core ground units. To add firepower, it was decided to remove the gauss rifle and replace it with two chain guns, and add a rail gun. (Heavy attack unit, primary. A combination of intense firepower and decent range. Armed with twin chain guns mounted on a turret in the center of a treaded chasse with a large turret underneath for the rail gun. Standard sensor array, with a few sensors popping out in various places.) [Unit almost looks intended for use on airborne targets. Other than the presence of forward armor, and moderate 360 horizontal rotation speeds. Design is reminiscent of a 21st century tank. The ammo feed for the chain guns goes into a box at the center of the unit. The sensors are also mounted on the box.]
-View this unit's concept art-
Omega - Heavy Armor
The heavyset ground unit in the Core. Designed to both take, and pack a punch. The only disadvantage of the behemoth is its lack of speed. (Heavy attack unit, heavy fire support unit. Two rail guns supported in one turret, side by side. With two flashette cannons on top of the turret. Few sensors at the rear of the unit. Lots of armor.) [Large bulky and very slow. This unit is a bullet magnet, but it can take the heat. Lots of armor, with the large turret incased in armor as well. Unit is on three staggered treds.]
-View this unit's concept art-
Omega - Counter Armor
To counter any race that might consider the same tactic, the forethought of The Core designed an anti armor variant. Equipped with a plasma cannon to burn through most any armor, and the rest was built around it. (Medium support unit. Used to take down enemy armored units. Mounted facing the front of the unit, on a one-way mount. All on a treaded chasse. Limited sensor array (only a few sensors poping out.)) [Similar to other units in the class. Gun appears to be the first thing created, with the rest of the unit filled in. Unit is built to take a lot of kick-back from the firing of the primary weapon. It simply rocks back on its treads.]
-View this unit's concept art-
Omega – Stealth Combat/Scout
The most feared Core ground unit. Intended to kill its target before it ever knows the unit is there. All of the units power is devoted to the stealth systems and weapons. (Heavy support unit. Used to ambush enemy formations, and rip apart low and mid level units. Equipped with two plasma flamers, and two infinite repeaters. Mid level sensors. [If the unit where to be seen out of stealth, it would look much like the other Omega units, only with far less armor, and a turret that is just a pillar.]
Omega - Anti Air
The Core encountered a race of entirely airborne units. The technology had not been thought of to make such a feat possible for The Core. So a solely anti air unit was developed. (Heavy support unit. Used to provide air cover for ground units. Armed with four rocket launchers mounted in pairs, on a treaded chasse. Extensive sensor array.(many sensors all over the unit.)) [Very obvious what the purpose of the unit is. Missiles are aimed at the sky be default, and the center of the mount rotates until the units radar picks up a target. The units appearance is dominated by the four missiles, followed by the treads, everything else looks like overkill.]
-View this unit's concept art-
Omega - Multirole
This creation of The Core was not inspired by the enemy, but rather by need. The Core found that smaller units were being destroyed in high numbers en route to the rendezvous area before attacks where launched, and during attacks, before the walls and defenses of the enemy could be breeched. To rectify this gap, this unit was developed. Able carry smaller units and move them to a location, while also allowing them to continue firing at targets. (Then release them back to their normal state to continue to fight on their own. Heavy specialized unit. Used to adapt to specific threats. Take on a number of units and combine weapons and systems with them. Two flashette cannons and a light laser cannon. (Several Sensors on the unit.) Entire unit is on four legs.) [Four legs with quite a number of “hard points” to attach units. The laser cannon is on top of the primary system, with the flashette cannons mounted forward and rear. The legs come out from the side of the primary system, and bend in a ‘knee’ then go to the ground. Hard points on the legs as well.]

Tango - General Combat
After innovations allowed The Core the power of flight, the Designer immediately set about building a set of units to take advantage of this newfound tactical vantage point. This was the first of that set. A muti-role aircraft, intended to be used against air and ground. (Decent maneuverability at both low and medium altitude, and a balance of firepower. Two missile launchers for air to air, and two high caliber gauss cannons for air to ground. Medium muti role aircraft.) Used to support and as a primary unit. [Flying wing design, with missiles under the wing and guns on forward mounts. A very obviously aggressively designed unit, very sharp looking.]
-View this unit's concept art-
Tango - Close Combat
The Core encountered a race of flying mammals that used claws as their only weapons. This unit was created to fight that threat, and has been kept in service, because in large numbers they can be devastating to enemy aircraft. (Small fast flyer that uses cutting lasers to get at venerable parts of enemy aircraft. One engine, two box-wings, with three legs under the center to latch on to the aircraft.) [Very unique air unit, the only melee air unit in the Core. Primary function is all the designer was concerned about with this unit. Small midsection, with two box wings coming out. Appears to be fairly aerodynamic, but not the fastest in the fleet.
Tango - Ranged
Built as a secondary option to the standard air. Less mobility is exchanged for more firepower. This cruiser-like unit is the middle of the road for The Cores aircraft. (Several missile banks and two high powered gauss turrets.) [Similar to the Heavy aircraft, as it looks like it belongs in space. Might even have something to suggest it is capable of entering the atmosphere from orbit. It has bays and hatches that are used in support of the fleet, and for adding modules. Other than that, it appears rather aerodynamic and smooth.]
Tango - Heavy Armor
To provide The Cores lighter air units with some heavier firepower, this large ship was designed. Building one of these behemoths takes almost as long as building a new Command Core. However the wait is worth it, able to take out almost anything given the right adaptations, and a formidable force even fresh off the line. [Six infinite repeaters scattered about the hull, three gauss cannons mounted on the underside, and eight missile launchers split evenly to each side. Entire craft looks like it belongs in space, not in the atmosphere. Large, and battleship like. Extensive sensor array at the nose of the aircraft. Four engines, mounted in pairs.] (Heavy primary aircraft. Used for a multitude of roles, escorting other aircraft, bombardment of enemy areas, heavy anti air).
Tango - Scout
One of the most feared Core units. Able to creep right up to a target before it opens fire. Intended to kill its target before it ever knows the unit is there. All of the units power is devoted to the stealth systems and weapons. (Support unit. Used to find and harass the enemy. Equipped with two high caliber gauss cannons, and two infinite repeaters. Mid level sensors. [If the unit where to be seen out of stealth, it would look much like the other Tango units, only with far less armor, and much more sleek looking armor.]
Tango - Anti Air
The second in the air series, targeted to destroy other air units. Fast at high and medium altitude, a highly sleek craft. Able to out maneuver most enemy air units and bring its six missile launchers to bear. (Medium anti air support. Used to clear the skies of enemy air craft.) [Two wing, triple engine design. Two of the pairs of missiles are mounted under the wings, one pair on top. Twin engines mounted behind and below. ]
Tango - Terra-Former
Conceived when The Core first began taking other planets, the ability to adjust the area around The Core to suite its needs became highly appealing. Then made possible after the innovation that allowed aircraft. (Heavy specialized unit. Used for transforming landscapes for better use by The Core. No secondary weapons other than its terrafourming laser.) [General combat only lacking external weapons, and with the addition of an enlarged power core, and doors under the ship to allow the laser access to the ground. Standard sensor array]
Tango - Carrier
At the time this unit was designed, it was not needed. Later in The Cores time, when they encountered a race of swarming bird-like warriors they realized what a true tactical genius this unit really is. (Heavy support aircraft. Carries small strike aircraft, and produces them on board. Limited on its own, but formidable once it has its strike aircraft. The only weapons it has other than the strike aircraft are two infinite repeaters) [The two infinite repeaters are mounted under and on top of the main system. Looks like Heavy Armor except it has several (3-4 on each side) ports in its side and less weapons. Five engines.]
Gamma - Device Layer
Shortly after The Core encountered its first few races, and began to get a feel for combat, this unit was built. Lays ground sensors, and mine fields and air mines. [Hovers, has four panels, one on each side, and a large eye in the middle. With arms coming out from under the unit to weld and place various things.] (No weapons other than two plasma cutters. Extensive sensor array. Uses small arms to weld structures, and place mines/ ground sensors.)
-View this unit's concept art-
Gamma - Beam Cannon
Long range Line-of-sight-artillery unit. Designed to drill holes through walls, cliffs, or the enemy. (Designed like all the other units, in that it runs on treads. That’s where the similarity stops. Its large particle-beam cannon is the center piece of the unit, and its only weapon. Forward facing, and goes the entire length of the unit.) [Treaded cassis, with the beam cannon on top, and armor over the cannon. Minimal beauty, but lots of power. The beam cannon has slight rotation, but not like a turret.]
-View this unit's concept art-
Gamma -Transport
With the ability to fight in the air, came the ability to move units much faster from the production areas to combat. This craft is designed to that end. (A light, fast ship with no weapons and room for a squad of units. Used to ferry units from various places to attack zones, and on occasion, the transports are part of an attack wave. Medium support aircraft. Used to move a small number of units around the battle field.) [Three engines, attached to a small rounded box. Not highly aerodynamic, but well suited to small conflicts. Limited sensor array. Able to lift off vertically. Hatches on the sides of the aircraft open to create ramps that allow units to board.]
-View this unit's concept art-
Gamma - Stealth Combat
The most technically advanced of the Gama Class units. The entire point is to inflict damage to the enemy while the enemy cannot attack the unit. So, most of the units power is focused on its stealth generator, with the rest focused on the weapons systems. (Light stealth attack unit. Only able to attack ground units. Two gauss rifles, mounted on swiveling arms to provide more accurate fire. Arms come out from under the unit.) [Looks much like many of the other Alpha units. Many legs, with a small center. Only it appears that two of this unit’s legs have been modified to face up to hold its two gauss rifles.]
Gamma - Repair Bots
A very un-sung unit of the Core. Many more units would have been damaged to the point of critical failure if not for this wonderful unit. (Repairs all Core units and structures. No weapons. Limited sensor array.) [Looks like a small box with anti-gravity, and a visual sensor.]
Gamma - Salvage
Roams the battlefield looking for destroyed units whose bodies have not decomposed yet. (Then crawls over them and converts them into matter, to be use by The Core.) [Mid sized, looks like a centipede. Can kill wounded enemy units with a spike on its tail end. Eight segments, each with a pair of legs.]
