WIP Units

Air Units-
Stone Dragon Rider:

Hawke Bomber: Large hawke like creature that comes from the other world. Is large enough that the race can ride them. Has no defense abilities but carries 2 satchels of bombs which is can drop on buildings and unsuspecting units.


Infantry Units-
Illusionist:

Necro saboture: These are the past “race” risen from the dead to help defend their lands which they helped create. If needed they are willing to risk their lives again and again to defend their races future even if that means destroying themselves to destroy the enemy.

Alch Troops: These are the front line troops, taught in the science and magic of alchemy they can turn anything into a weapon to use against their opponents.

Summoner:
Flame Wolf: Wolf like creature with flames on its back. Fast attacks. Creature is so hot it can melt the ground which other units can sink in.
Ice Golem: Made entirely of ice and snow. Increased defense. Freezes the ground it walks on slowing down enemy units.

Shape shifter: recon



Armored/Heavy Units-

Stone Battle Turtle: Built like a turtle with a hard shell stumpy head but has six legs instead of 4 for better balance and has less issues going over terrain. Shoots a beam of mana out of its mouth.

Mangonel: Hard shelled with a long tail that it uses to whip bolders at structures and infantry. Here is an image to kind of see what i was thinking of http://www005.upp.so-net.ne.jp/Jurassic ... chia02.jpg

Fervoltus: Hard rounded shell transport, armadillo like. Loads infantry under its shell curls into a ball and rolls where it needs to go. This is where i got the idea http://img.visualizeus.com/thumbs/08/10 ... fe98_h.jpg


Defensive Units-
Arc Tower(anti-air): small tower with a SOP(Sphere of Power) on the top of it. The sphere shoots bolts of lighting at the target.

Base Turret:

Mana Pockets: land mines



Weapons:
Longbow
Crossbow
Crossbow Repeater
Warhammer
Battleaxe

Sorry for the delay been madly searching for a job lately and also have a bit of a block coming up with ideas. Right now I'm going with a mix of atlantis and shadows of colossus for the tech idea. So their heavy units are made like statues and are brought to life by infusing them with mana/life force. Then some of the living creatures are summoned up from another world or can be creatures right on their planet. I'm still messing with the summoner infantry unit, thinking about trashing that and just use the golem and wolf as separate units instead.

sweet.. starting to look like a really cool race. is this everything, or just what you are sure you really want?

this is what i have come up with so far. Still need to think up a mobil anti air unit and stationary base defenses against infantry and armored units, any ideas are welcome. I will try to post the structure list tomorrow.

one question i do have is what are we using for particle effects and stuff because this race will most likely be particle effects heavy with the exploding mana pockets and lightning and what ever else might be going on with this race or other races.

The Irrlicht engine has particle affects built into it, but they're probably slow; I haven't tried them out yet. We can always write a shader to make fast particle effects if we need to :)

In general, I encourage designers to just design without thinking of the technical aspects of things too much and then we'll trim things down later if we have to; obviously you don't have to do things that way if you don't want to, though.

Just had a chance to read over this again and wanted to say, great job....I really love the ideas for many of these units :)

One thing we should probably look at early on in the development of this race is that it needs to follow the idea that it starts out with few units and then ends up with many units late game; the summoning idea promotes this....is there anything else that we want to do to promote this idea?

Also: are you thinking of doing an upgrade system of any sort?

Yea there will be armor, weapon, and spell upgrades but they will be add ons and not an entirely new unit.

I don't know...this race seems awefully close to the Chronolith, especially shapeshifting and all this different monsters and things.
