Postby MrC » Tue Jan 20, 2009 5:07 pm

So New topic for the Core units:

As asked here are 2 desing sketch and a "final form" for the alpha-shell. Il have to work more on the Gauss weapon desing and on the "feet"... and are the Core units more stylish or more Squarish... Tks

So some part of the Alpha:

First part of sketch (concept time):

Sketch to comment (the red on top of it could be units number and all that stuff... just an idea):

Great effort! and on such short notice!

The first one is really sweet, I like the detail.

As for the second two, perhaps we move that front portion up a tad, so that it is just a little higher than the mid section?

Also- the Core units are not piloted, they are controled by an AI, so there is no cockpit. (Just for future referance.)

otherwise, outstanding!

Np, i use my transport (im a bus person) and lunch time for drawing and concept :D

- Your more of a modeling type that of the concept type thats good, for the next units ill post more view and detail and less "rendering"
- As for the "Gauss canon" il post some concept of it tomorow (il try to concept three size for those)
- Hum, are we going to take a more rounded shape for the units or is this kind ok ?
- Is the "marking" of the units keep or not... cause il use it for futur design)
- By the way the canon can rise and lower it self, just in case, cause i forgot to mark it.

Im going to work on a more finalise version of this units (except for the gauss canon, but is the size ok?)

Rase the gauss cannon on the front so that it is closer to level with the main "box" and bring the nose cone with it.

i see that you rased the cannon! thanks!
rather interesting drawing.. i kinda liked the very first one better, as far as drawing style, but I like how you moved the cannon up in this one. If you think you have enough, feel free to draw an offical concept art for the Alpha Shell.. or i can give you another unit. :D personaly I want one last drawing of the Alpha Shell.

I know I'm a bit late to the party (and obviously Derfmancher has the final say, since it's his unit), but here are my comments/suggestions:

The spikes under the blocks on the sides should probably take up the entire block and then funnel down to a somewhat-broader tip than they currently have; this would suggest that the spikes could hold more weight (after all, they have to be able to support the entire machine), and would be just as deadly.

Also: having this as the Alpha shell seems kind of weird, since the alpha shell is "The lightest of the Core Shells." To me, this looks more like the Omega shell, the description of which is this:
Core Unit List 3.0 wrote:The heavy ground Core Shell. Used best when supporting other units, and to attack the enemies weak points. (Simple unit, looks much like a 21st century tank, only without crew compartments, and a single rail gun in place of the primary turret. Supported by two flashette cannons.

Just my two cents :)

Hy, wyrmmage... Your idea about the tips of the legs seems nice (il add and well see- as for the head of the legs its only and armor that cover the part...well Derfmancher whats your say on it ?) and as for the second class and the omega units.

I have 3 sketches:
one for the Omega-shell (the tank looking one - Maybi we should rename it the Beta-Shell ?)
and one for the Omega-Heavy-Armor (the Behemoth one on tree treadh)
and last one (but unfinish) is the Gamma-Beam Cannon... Still lots to do for this one.

So il wait to ear about the alpha-shell and il act acordingly (as for the 3 sketches il post them tomorow) :D have a good night !

PS: In alphabetical order - alpha - beta - gamma - delta ... and last one omega (but would this be more right: Omega-Beam-canon and Gamma-Heavy-Armor... just my two cents :) sry )
