Decided to take a break from my lvls and try to start modeling some stuff

I know its a simple worm but had a little trouble with the proportions because of the angle of the drawing is at. Moon if you could draw it from just a side view just so I can get the width and length of the sections right it would be great. I havent put the crystals on yet because I'm trying to figure out how to rig a worm, right now I'm just using some deformer boxes to get it into this shape.

Is it hard because you the entire body moves and rotates, instead of having axles and such like on limbs?

Yea its wierd is such a simple animal but the worm has no bones so it can bend any which way, but I was thinking I should maybe wait to rig until its ready to be animated because if the animations arent all that complicated then probly can just use the deformers for the animation.

Also what were you guys thinking in ways of skin texture, is it like a normal worm with the rigid skin or more like a smooth sticky tentacle.

I believe the tentacles can be kind of slimy-like (like you mentioned :)). What's planned so far though, with the skin:
I was thinking of their skin being a rusty-like color, with a granite-like texture.
So the skin is going to have kind a rough surface, like granite. Is this trait too subtle without color?

Well I'll try and play around with the normal mapping a little bit tomorrow and maybe try out some colors.

Still playing around with the colors, normal maps, and havent made a specular map yet. Thinking about making the rings kind of leathery looking Image but of course it would be the darker brown.

It looks good :). Unless you really want to change the color or texture, I think it'll work great. We'll just have to find out if the color needs to change, once we get some colored terrain :P.

When you have time, could you perhaps post a screenshot of it wiggling or raised up, like your first screenshot? :)

Sry havent updated in a bit, I've been trying to learn how to make normal maps in photoshop correctly. Here is the test of the normal map I made to possibly use for this creature.
Image
Its based off of snake skin but with the right texture coloring it could look like he has a rocky skin.

You made that? It looks really good :). I think it can be made to look rocky as well.

here is the model with the new normal map, seems to have lost a bit of detail from having to scale the texture down, but it could also be the lighting. Still thinking of what to do for the rings.
